Ohio Country Music Hall of Famer Earns Prestigious Recognition as the Academy Celebrates Excellence in Western Music, Arts, and Culture; Winners to Be Announced November 21st in Fort Worth, Texas

WAYNESVILLE, OH/ FORT WORTH, TX – October 24, 2026 – Award-winning traditional country singer-songwriter and Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Richard Lynch has been named a finalist for Western Country Male Vocalist at the 2026 Academy of Western Artists (AWA) Awards. The prestigious nomination recognizes Lynch’s enduring commitment to authentic country music, his distinctive vocal style, and his dedication to preserving the traditions that have defined the genre for generations.
The Academy of Western Artists recently announced finalists across 32 award categories honoring outstanding work from 2025. The selections follow an extensive, multi-stage process involving public nominations, submissions from nominees, and two rounds of voting by Academy members and industry professionals. Final winners will be determined by panels of expert judges and announced during two awards ceremonies on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Auction Barn Studio in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas.
Lynch joins a distinguished group of Western Country Male Vocalist finalists that includes Jon Chandler, Kevin “Tuck” Tuckfield, and Edward Williams. The category celebrates performers whose music and artistry embody the spirit, storytelling, and authenticity of Western country traditions.
Other notable finalists include Kristyn Harris, recognized in both Western/Cowboy Female Vocalist and Western Swing Female Vocalist categories, and Doug Figgs, whose nominations include Western/Cowboy Male Vocalist and Western/Cowboy Album for Storm on the Mountain. These nominations reflect the extraordinary range of talent represented across Western and traditional country music.
For Lynch, the recognition is particularly meaningful. For more than four decades, he has remained a passionate advocate for traditional country music, drawing inspiration from legendary performers including George Jones, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, and Keith Whitley. His unmistakable baritone, heartfelt songwriting, and devotion to classic country instrumentation have earned him numerous chart-topping singles, industry awards, and an international following.
A member of both the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame and the Independent Country Music Hall of Fame, Lynch has built his career around a simple philosophy: country music should tell honest stories about real people and real life.
Beyond his recording career, Lynch lives the values reflected in his music. Together with his wife, Donna, he operates Keepin’ It Country Farm in Waynesville, Ohio, where they host concerts and charitable events. He is also a co-founder of the Love Tattoo Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting American military veterans and raising awareness of their sacrifices.
Lynch’s connection to the Academy of Western Artists is especially significant. His album A Better Place previously received the Academy’s Pure Country Album of the Year honor, making his latest finalist recognition another meaningful chapter in his longstanding relationship with the Western music community.
Founded to recognize excellence in Western artistic achievement, the Academy of Western Artists has honored musicians, writers, poets, visual artists, and cultural contributors since 1996. Its annual awards celebrate those who preserve and advance the rich traditions of the American West.
For Richard Lynch, the nomination serves as another reminder that traditional country music continues to have a vital place in today’s musical landscape, connecting generations through songs rooted in truth, heritage, and the American experience.
