From Toronto’s punk rock underground to spiritual awakening, the former B-Girls member brings her journey full circle with a powerful new single, out on November 6th.

TORONTO, ON – October 22, 2026 – Former punk rock pioneer and spiritual music artist Ananda Xenia Shakti will release her new Deep House single, “A Revolution in Love,” on November 6, 2026, via MTS Records. Combining hypnotic electronic rhythms with emotionally charged spoken-word vocals, the song explores suffering, transformation, freedom, and the revolutionary power of unconditional love.
The single represents a remarkable full-circle moment for Shakti, whose musical journey began in Toronto’s underground punk scene as a member of the pioneering all-female band The B-Girls. Having toured with The Clash and contributed to Blondie’s Autoamerican album, she eventually followed a spiritual path that led her to India, yoga, and a deeper exploration of consciousness and human connection.
“A Revolution in Love” began with an unexpected recording session in the cloud jungle of Costa Rica. What started as an experiment combining spoken word with electronic dance music became an emotional experience that would take years of personal reflection and a journey across continents to fully realize.
Shakti shares the deeply personal inspiration behind the release:
“This song began with a phone call from a friend in Costa Rica who wanted to record with me. I suggested spoken word over EDM, and in one take, I recorded the vocals. By the end, we both had tears in our eyes. But afterward, I wondered ‘Is it enough?’ The song traveled from Costa Rica to India and finally home to Toronto, where we decided to preserve that original, authentic vocal performance while building the music around it. Coming home was significant because, as a young teen, I used to sneak into Toronto dance clubs, reaching for the stars and searching for something I couldn’t yet name. That search eventually took me into the punk world, onto stages, and through years of spiritual discovery. I realize that beneath all the rebellion, the dancing, and even the chaos, I was searching for love, freedom, and connection. The music video brought everything full circle when we unexpectedly filmed on the same streets I walked as a young punk rocker. Only this time, I was dancing through them in a little red dress, singing about a revolution in love! This song is about, reframing the past, discovering the dance was always an attempt to celebrate ourselves. The rebellion was always a search for love. Now, the revolution is love itself. And we are enough!”
Produced by Kabumi, Kudos Lokey, and Ananda Xenia Shakti, the recording preserves her original one-take vocal performance while incorporating additional electronic arrangements and soaring background vocals. Its instrumental soundtrack draws from a remix of Keinemusik’s “The Day I Met You.”
The accompanying music video reinforces the song’s message, bringing Shakti back to the Toronto streets where her youthful rebellion began, now transformed into an exuberant celebration of self-acceptance and spiritual freedom.
With its fusion of Deep House, spoken-word poetry, and universal themes, “A Revolution in Love” invites listeners to rediscover the joy of being human and recognize that love and connection have always been at the heart of the journey.
