The talented singer-songwriter Smilee is ready to enchant audiences with her latest release, ‘Have Faith’ set to release on 12th December 2023. The track is a poignant anthem that represents resilience and hope. “I composed the song to emphasise the significance of having faith during challenging times, serving as a reminder that nothing is permanent.” she says.
‘Have Faith’ features a harmonious blend of soothing and uplifting tones, creating an emotional resonance that speaks directly to each listeners’ heart. Smilee’s musical journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, having discovered her singing and dancing talent at a young age, the rising star went on to secure a place at the acclaimed Brit School alongside artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash. She quickly emerged onto the music scene in 2020 with her debut single, ‘Wavelength’ ascending to the remarkable #3 position in Commercial Pop in the UK as well as being featured in Wonderland Magazine.
Smilee took time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions in this EXCLUSIVE interview..

Hello Smilee! Thanks for taking the time to speak with us. First of all, how did you get the name “Smilee?” Is that your given name, or does it have particular meaning to you?
My name, Smilee, reflects my constant positivity and perpetual smile. It was my nickname at first and then the music I wrote just kinda matched it.
You attended the prestigious Brit School, alongside Adele, Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash. What was that experience like for you, and how did it help shape your music career?
It allowed me to explore being creative and work with all the wonderful teachers there. I also did lots acting which is my other love alongside music.
Tell us about your Top 20 hit, “Wavelength.” Was the song’s success surprising to you? Did it put additional pressure on you, to create a follow-up hit?
I was pleasantly surprised by Wavelength’s success , especially considering the numerous songs that hadn’t resonated before. Nevertheless, I was thrilled that everyone, in particular the dance world, embraced it.
Tell us about your new single “Have Faith.” What was the writing and recording process like? What does the song mean to you?
“Have Faith” serves as a crucial reminder during challenging times, reassuring us that despair is not a permanent state. I wrote firstly in lockdown and then went back into a different studio to get it release ready. I love working like that forgetting about it for a while then listening for the 1st time!
What is next for you? What are your plans for New Year’s Eve? What are your goals for 2024?
Currently performing in Mumbai over Christmas , and early in 2024, I’ll be heading to Australia. Keep it hush-hush, but an incredible remix of “Have Faith” is on the horizon, along with another planned release!
