Gerald & the Doonesbury Band Release ‘Gotta Run Gotta Hide’

Gerald Shaffer, Canadian Blues Producer Brings His Fusion Blues Recipe To The Forefront With New Single, ‘Gotta Run Gotta Hide’.

Bringing the Rhodes piano out of its box and onto the road will be such an amazing event, I can’t wait!”— Gerald Shaffer

“Gotta Run Gotta Hide” is the band’s first official release dropping on all DSP’s March 1 2022. The song is a fast paced complex melody and as Gerald says in his own words, “The song was inspired from a reflection of sound I experienced during a nightmare. I was running down the road and I saw this puddle making this amazing sound. It makes no sense now but I know that recalling the nightmare was difficult and I had to reflect on a lot of stuff to find the melody. Inspiration isn’t always easy or a great time.”

“Gotta Run Gotta Hide” is the first release from a new album scheduled for late 2022. This single is available now on all DSP’s with a video dropping next month. The song is currently making its way around the global radio stations and building quick momentum.

“I loved making this song”, says Gerald in a private interview in his Roberts Creek home, “We had the piano melody and it was booming, so finding a beat to match was tricky. The strings and organ were provided generously by the new Yamaha P-125 88 key electric piano. Our new piano was so amazing to play, such a great time and the crowd loves the sound.”

About the ending. “The outro was inspired during the rehearsal and wasn’t actually planned. It came from the nightmare series I have suffered recently, so I left it in because of that time. It was a hard time, folks really get it and love the end note, it just resonates. I love it”

A scheduled tour is in the works while the bands original tour dates were paused by Covid. A Canadian tour from Vancouver to Newfoundland will stop at all the venues possible focusing on smaller more intimate spaces with a good acoustic sound. “Bringing the Rhodes piano out of its box and onto the road will be such an amazing event, I can’t wait”
