Doug Briney: The Indie Authority Interview

Doug Briney jeansLady Spitfire, from popular music webzine, The Indie Authority, recently interviewed Super Country Cowboy, Doug Briney, for an exclusive interview about his new single, “Unknown Soldier” and his upcoming CMA Fest appearances.  Here’s an excerpt:

TIA:  What is your musical background?

DOUG BRINEY: I grew up singing in church, with children’s choirs and youth choirs, through high school I was also involved in band and played the trumpet.  When I graduated high school I enrolled at a small Bible College in California and graduated there with my BA in Music.  I then spent the last 26 years leading worship music in church and still do today.  Country was the music I was always drawn to and listened to so what to me is kinda funny is in leading worship it always comes out a little country.

TIA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

DB: Putting out a CD or Album was something I had dreamt of most of my adult life.  I always thought I would be recording a Gospel album though, when I finally pulled the trigger what came out was my first project, “It’s All Country.”  The title sums it up pretty clear, it was not something I really planned but rather I just recorded the songs that really I connected with.  That is not to say I don’t connect with the Gospel music and hope to do a Country Gospel EP in the near future. What I found after putting my first project out was I could still have a very positive influence through my music.
