Exclusive Interview Explores Their Musical Journeys, Country Roots and Collaboration on “Silver Threads & Golden Needles”

Parton and Newton recently joined Georgette Jones to record a new rendition of the country classic “Silver Threads & Golden Needles,” combining three distinctive voices for a fresh interpretation of a song with a remarkable history.
Originally recorded by Wanda Jackson in 1956 and later by country legends including Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn, “Silver Threads & Golden Needles” remains an enduring anthem of strength and independence. The new version by Lee Newton, Heidi Parton and Georgette Jones honors that legacy, while its star-studded music video features appearances by John Berry, John McEuen, The Malpass Brothers, members of The Oak Ridge Boys, Ronnie McDowell, Jimmy Fortune, T. Graham Brown, Artimus Pyle and others.
For Newton, a multiple Josie Music Awards winner whose music blends traditional country, blues and Southern rock, the collaboration follows the release of her acoustic album, Beautifully Undone.
