MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – September 1, 2026 — Award-winning Dutch musician, songwriter, producer, and music therapist Harry Kappen has released his new single, “Good Samaritans,” from his latest album, After the Crossing. Featuring Mexican singer Danna Gomez on the choruses, the firm and energetic rock track pays tribute to the quiet heroes who step forward when others need help—not for attention or recognition, but out of genuine compassion and empathy.
“Good Samaritans” follows Kappen’s successful previous single, “Distant Shore,” and continues the album’s musical nod to the work of David Bowie, who passed away ten years ago this year. While Bowie’s adventurous spirit can be heard in the song’s theatrical rock presentation, Kappen uses that influence as a foundation for a message firmly rooted in the present.
The song contrasts the selflessness of ordinary people with a culture increasingly driven by appearances, social-media performance, empty slogans, carefully filtered images, and inflated egos. Its lyrics take aim at a world of “plastic smiles,” “sculpted skies,” hashtags, superheroes, and promises of instant fulfillment. Against that artificial landscape stand the good Samaritans—people who remain largely unseen, never trend online, and rarely receive applause.
For Kappen, these are the people who truly deserve society’s highest honors. They act when circumstances demand it, while others remain on the sidelines, looking to one another in helpless bewilderment. He considers such selfless individuals the most deserving candidates for a future Nobel Prize—not because they seek acclaim, but precisely because they do not.
“Good Samaritans” appears on After the Crossing, Kappen’s first album recorded following his move from the Netherlands to Mexico. The collection features ten songs that are especially close to the artist’s heart, ranging musically from subdued and reflective compositions to highly expressive rock performances. Kappen performed, sang, and produced every song on the album himself, continuing the deeply independent approach that has defined his recent work.
Following his move, Kappen plans to continue working as a therapist on a smaller scale in Mexico City while devoting more time to his music. He is currently rehearsing with a new Mexican backing band and preparing to bring his songs to live audiences in the near future.
