Written during a silent meditation retreat in the sacred mountains of Andhra Pradesh, India, Devotion emerged in the middle of the night when Ananda found herself unable to meditate due to illness. Rather than resisting the experience, she began softly chanting the names of Radha and Krishna. What followed was an extraordinary creative and spiritual unfolding.
Guided throughout the retreat by a revered spiritual teacher whose presence embodied the qualities of Saraswati—the Hindu goddess of wisdom, music, creativity, and the sacred arts—Ananda experienced firsthand how moments of challenge can become gateways to grace. That lesson became the foundation of Devotion, a composition woven around the timeless Hare Krishna Maha Mantra and infused with an atmosphere of surrender, compassion, and transcendence.

Following the retreat, Ananda returned to the studio in India, where she and her recording engineer captured the song in a single inspired take. Rather than feeling like a conventional recording session, the process unfolded as a shared act of listening and receptivity.
“It felt less like creating music and more like receiving a blessing,” Ananda reflects. “A transmission. A prayer.”
