Pam Ross Welcomes Summer Early with New Single “That Kind of Summer” – Available May 8

Fuquay-Varina, NC-based multi-genre artist delivers a carefree anthem from forthcoming LP, “Wait for It…”

FUQUAY-VARINA, NC –  May 4, 2026 — Award-winning singer-songwriter Pam Ross is ready to roll the windows down and turn the radio up with the release of her new single, “That Kind of Summer,” available everywhere on Friday, May 8, 2026. The feel-good anthem is the first glimpse into her forthcoming LP, Wait for It…

Written during a cold February in North Carolina while longing for warmer days by the water, “That Kind of Summer” captures the spirit of freedom, spontaneity, and living completely in the moment. Fueled by vivid imagery, soaring melodies, and Ross’s signature blend of country, Americana, rock, folk, blues, and pop, the song delivers an irresistible soundtrack for the season ahead.

“It was February in North Carolina, which is colder than it is in Houston,” Ross shared. “I was missing the warmer weather and living by the water, so I wrote a fun summertime song.”

Built around the infectious hook, “It’s a top rolled back, that kind of summer,” the single paints a picture of beach roads, flip-flop days, sunscreen in the air, and chasing adventure without a map. The track’s upbeat energy and relatable storytelling continue the musical style fans have come to know as “Pam Music” — Ross’s unique fusion of genres that refuses to be boxed in.

Ross performs vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, organ, and backing vocals on the recording while also serving as producer. She is joined by an accomplished lineup of musicians including Yvan Petit on lead and rhythm guitar, FJ Ventre on bass, backing vocals, recording engineering, and co-production, George Hindenach on drums and percussion, and Franchesca “Chessie” Umbrino on backing vocals. The single was mixed and mastered by Marc Frigo.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised primarily in Houston, Texas, Pam Ross first began performing her original music in Houston open mic venues before building a reputation as an energetic live performer and soulful songwriter. After relocating to Nashville, Ross caught the attention of BMI executive Rover Sovine and later country songwriting legend Gary Harrison, former senior director of A&R at Mercury Records.

Ross now resides in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, where she continues writing, recording, and performing across the country. Since releasing her debut album, When Therapy Fails, in 2023, Ross has emerged as one of independent music’s rising multi-genre artists. Four singles from the album reached the Top 10 on the UK iTunes rock and country charts and the Independent Music Network Charts. Her single “Better Than a Good Thing” hit #1 on the UK iTunes Folk/Rock chart and won the New Music Challenge on Nashville’s WHNE 101.3. Another standout track, “Two Shots of Tequila,” climbed to #2 on Bandwagon Network Radio and #21 on the Cashbox Magazine Americana chart.

Ross’s growing list of accolades includes winning Female Multi-Genre Artist of the Year at the 2024 Josie Music Awards. Her debut album was also recognized by Inscriber Magazine as one of the best indie albums of the year. In 2023, she earned Musician of the Year honors at the Who’s Hoo Country Music Awards and was named Fan Favorite at the Independent Music Network Awards. For music, media inquiries, interviews, or tour information, visit:
