Emerging 18 year old singer-songwriter Kiefer Bahrich is set to release his deeply personal new EP, That’s Alright, a sun-soaked, country-rock inspired project that captures the spirit of resilience, the longing to chase a dream beyond familiar borders, and the desire to find where you belong.
At its heart, That’s Alright is about feeling trapped in a place that no longer fits — standing at what feels like a dead end and daring to imagine something bigger. Written during a pivotal moment in Bahrich’s life, the EP’s title track was born from a season of self-doubt, isolation, and quiet determination.
The inspiration traces back to a difficult time for Bahrich where he faced criticism and discouragement about his music. Feeling increasingly disheartened and close to giving up, he experienced a turning point during a spring break road trip to California with his family. Driving down the Pacific Coast while listening to classics by The Eagles sparked a renewed sense of inspiration and possibility. Upon returning home, however, the feeling of being an outsider resurfaced. After one particularly difficult day, Bahrich went to bed feeling ashamed and defeated. At 2 a.m., he woke up with a song in his head and wrote it down. That song became That’s Alright, one of the first songs he ever wrote, and one that emerged from an intensely personal place of feeling trapped and not accepted.
Musically, the EP leans into throwback nostalgia with a clear influence from 1970s country rock, featuring Kiefer on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 12-string guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, That’s Alright delivers an upbeat, sun-soaked, and relaxed sound that contrasts beautifully with the vulnerability at its core.
The main theme of the project centers on being a traveler throughout life — navigating setbacks, experiencing growth, and the ongoing search for belonging and purpose. As both an origin point in his songwriting journey and a reflection of perseverance, That’s Alright marks an important milestone for Kiefer. The 3 song EP (That’s Alright, Whiskey Never Forgets, and Just Pretending) was recorded at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC and engineered by Emily Ryan. All songs are available now on streaming platforms.
