Dr. Hugh Foley is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on Oklahoma’s musical heritage, with scholarly expertise spanning American Studies, Native American music and culture, and cinema. His work as an educator, writer, and cultural advocate has made him an indispensable voice in documenting and interpreting the stories that define Oklahoma’s artistic legacy.
A founding board member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, Foley has contributed significantly to preserving and celebrating the state’s contributions to American music, from Red Dirt and Western Swing to Native American musical traditions. His research and writing have influenced students, scholars, and music fans across the country.

In addition to his academic work, Foley is a longtime broadcaster and mentor. He currently serves as the faculty consultant for KRSC-FM, where he produces a weekly Native American current events and music program.
