PITTSBURGH, PA – November 12, 2025 — American rock and roll band Noble Hops release their deeply moving new single, “The Trunk,” available yesterday, on all major streaming platforms. Marking the band’s third single of 2025, the release coincides poignantly with Veterans Day, offering a heartfelt look at the lasting scars of war and the struggles of the American working class.
Written by Utah Burgess, “The Trunk” unfolds like a generational letter — a son uncovering his father’s hidden past through the artifacts left behind in an old chest. Through vivid storytelling and raw emotion, the lyrics capture the impact of the Vietnam War on one man’s life and how those reverberations echo through his family.
“The foreign policy of the United States has wreaked havoc on the lives of so many people — not only abroad, but right here at home,” says Burgess. “Addiction. Homelessness. Twenty-two veterans a day, they say, are taking their lives as they try to cope with what they’ve experienced. In no way am I suggesting this is every veteran’s plight, but it’s unacceptable. ‘The Trunk’ may be set in the Vietnam era, but sadly, the story hasn’t changed much since.”
The track was recorded at Rattle Clack Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, with Jazz Byers producing alongside Burgess. Byers also contributed percussion and acoustic guitar, while Mike Ofca handled mixing and mastering. The single reunites the creative team behind Noble Hops’ Josie Award–nominated song “Kelso Beach.”
The band—Utah Burgess (vocals, rhythm guitar), Tony Villella (lead guitar, backing vocals), Johnny “Sleeves” Costa (bass, backing vocals), and “The” Brad Hulburt (drums)—continues to build national momentum after a year of over 40 live performances and two Josie Music Awards nominations for Group of the Year and Song of the Year.
