Recorded live-off-the-floor at the iconic Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee — the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll — The Sun Sessions captures Coons at his most raw, rootsy, and authentic. The EP includes the fan-favorite and #64 UK iTunes chart hit “Crumbs ’24,” also a #1 Cashbox Magazine chart hit; the reflective Americana anthem “Faded Glory (Land of the Free);” a spirited Elvis Presley medley of “Hound Dog/Don’t Be Cruel;” and the smokey, blues-driven new focus track, “Memphis Whiskey Blues.”
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of his 2004 single “Crumbs,” Coons returned to the original vision of the song—stripped-down, live, and emotionally unfiltered. Recorded in a single take, with no auto-tune and using vintage mics and half-inch reel-to-reel tape for that unmistakable Sun Studio slapback, the updated “Crumbs ’24” delivers the warmth, grit, and honesty that made the song a fan-favorite two decades ago.
Blending Southern blues swagger with Coons’ signature storytelling, “Memphis Whiskey Blues” channels the soulful spirit of Beale Street and the dusty romance of Americana songwriting. With its acoustic grit, smooth groove, and timeless back-porch atmosphere, the track stands as a highlight of the EP and a natural fit for blues, Americana, roots, and singer-songwriter playlists and airwaves.
