AUSTIN, TX (July 31st, 2025) In the wake of the catastrophic floods that struck Central Texas over the July 4th weekend, Austin-based singer-songwriter Bruce Smith has released a heartfelt new single, “Love Is For Ever,” with all proceeds going to Texas flood relief efforts.
As a stalled tropical system dropped a year’s worth of rain over the region, thousands were displaced and devastated by record-breaking floodwaters. Bruce Smith woke on the morning of July 6th to find his regular Sunday gig canceled. Instead of heading to the stage, he turned to the studio bringing with him a song written in direct response to the crisis.
“Love Is For Ever” is a collaboration between six Austin musicians, written and recorded as a way to channel the collective grief, sorrow, and helplessness into something healing and hopeful—not just for the artists themselves, but for the broader community impacted by the disaster.
“We hope and pray that through our efforts, we might help ease some of the impossible hardships our neighbors now face,” said Smith.

Bruce Smith’s work has been praised by The Washington Post as “powerful folk songs with a conscience,” and by Performing Songwriter Magazine for “lyrics with a unique point of view articulated in a way that’s intelligent and accessible.” A native of Detroit, Smith has been a mainstay in the Austin music scene for nearly two decades. His most recent album, 1000 Horses, was produced by Grammy-winner Randy Caballero. A new studio album is slated for release in 2026.
“Love Is For Ever” was recorded and produced by Omar Vallejo at 512 Studios in Austin, Texas. It is available now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms. All proceeds from the single will be donated directly to local organizations aiding in Texas flood relief.
