Pete Price Unveils Emotionally Raw New Single “Better Angels” On May 9th

Heartfelt Americana storytelling continues with the latest release from Pictures in Time

DAYTON, OH – May 2, 2025 — Americana singer-songwriter and veteran guitarist Pete Price is set to release his deeply resonant new single, “Better Angels,” on Friday, May 9th, via Stillwater Willow Music. The track is the latest offering from his acclaimed 2024 album, Pictures in Time, a thoughtful collection that maps the emotional milestones of a life spent searching for meaning, love, and redemption.

Anchored by Price’s warm, weathered vocals and a gentle blend of acoustic guitar, piano, and understated rhythm section, “Better Angels” tells the story of a man haunted by love lost and the hope for reconciliation. What begins as a hesitant phone call evolves into a confessional outpouring—a mental tug-of-war between longing and fear, courage and regret. The chorus serves as the song’s aching plea: “Maybe there’s a way / We could live another day / If we can find our better angels.”

“It started with just the phrase ‘better angels,’” Price says of the writing process. “I wanted to write a story song—something cinematic, emotional. It became this internal monologue of a guy who finally finds the guts to call his ex, only to get her voicemail. Everything else plays out in his imagination. I like that we don’t know how it ends.”

Pictures in Time, released in mid- 2024, follows the life arc of a person moving from youthful trials to a more contemplative, redemptive phase. “Better Angels” marks a thematic midpoint—a moment of reckoning, of daring to confront the past while still yearning for peace and connection.

Pete Price is no stranger to the stage or the studio. A lifelong musician and longtime member of Ohio’s beloved The Fries Band, Price has spent decades refining his craft. His solo debut, Department of the Interior, earned over 120,000 Spotify streams and critical praise for its poetic lyrics and classic roots-rock sensibility. Songs like “Common Ground” and “Old Movies and You” revealed Price as a storyteller in the tradition of Jackson Browne, Neil Young, and Dan Fogelberg—sincere, reflective, and powerfully human.

On Pictures in Time, Price reunites with members of The Price Brothers Band and an ensemble of gifted collaborators. Recorded by Jeff Tutt at Triangle Road Studio and mastered by Sean

Haney, the album showcases lush instrumentation—from delicate mandolin and soaring violin to soul-stirring keyboards and harmony-drenched choruses.

Whether performing solo, with The Fries Band, or alongside 39 North or The Price Brothers, Pete Price continues to captivate audiences with his mix of introspection, melody, and unshakable heart. With “Better Angels”, he invites listeners into a space of vulnerability—and the possibility that, even after loss, love can still echo on the line.
